The GPA bullet does not fragment when hitting a sapling because its expansion and the separation of the petals can only be caused by hydrodynamic effect in the hollow point cavity, such as when impacting on living tissues composed of 75% or more water.
A testimony from J.P Sauer & Sohn GmbH
" I have tested the terminal ballistic of your bullet in the end of September. I don't like tests with gelatine so I made a field test. I shot a wild boar with the following data :
- - Caliber : .308 Win
- - Bullet : G.P.A. bullet - 148 g/ cal. 30
- - Powder : Vithavuori N140/ 43 g
- - Primer : CCI BR2
- - Distance : 50 meters
- - Time : 23:00
- - Excellent placed hit, destruction of the lung
- - Bullet base escaped the body, escape length of wild boar : 50 meters.
- - Weight of wild boar : 150 kg
In my opinion, this bullet is excellent for hunting a wide range of animals. The terminal ballistic and the effect of the bullet are very good. In my opinion this bullet is better than bullets similar to yours."
